Press House Coffee is searching for a full time Food Service Associate to work at our upcoming store front in Sewickley, PA. The ideal candidate should be passionate about providing excellent quality savory and sweet foods and occasionally assist with coffee and tea production with the intent of creating an exceptional experience as a whole for the community we serve. Experience in the industry is not required but preferred, as thorough training will be provided to all new Food Service Associates at Press House. Rather, we require our team members to be someone who we can rely on as a part of our team. It is essential that you are responsible, personable, and trustworthy day to day, as well as eager to learn and grow within the food and coffee community. 

Job Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

  • Prepare and serve food items in accordance with recipes and standards. 
  • Maintain freshness and quality of food.
  • Prepare and serve espresso, coffee, and tea beverages in accordance with  recipes when needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following food and drink sanitation guidelines. 
  • Operate a POS system
  • Greet and engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner 
  • Communicate with team members and management throughout the shift to ensure the shop is running smoothly and efficiently
  • Provide accurate knowledge of all Press House items and products to customers
  • Fulfill all opening, closing, and side-work procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school education or equivalent and at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and multitask
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Available to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends 
  • Must be organized and punctual

Roastery/Shop Assistant

Press House Coffee is looking for an energetic individual to join our team as a roastery and shop assistant. As our company grows we are seeking a dynamic person to grow with us. The preferred candidate is a coffee lover who wants to learn more about the industry from country of
origin to the cup served in a cafe. The roastery/shop assistant will work out of our roasting facility off of Mount Nebo Road in Ohio Township and be mobile and able to assist at our other locations in the Allegheny West neighborhood of the North Side and in the Village of Sewickley. Candidates should be open to a non-traditional work environment where tasks change on a daily basis and flexibility is a must.

The Roastery Apprentice and Shop Assistant will report directly to the Head Roaster and Coffee Operations Manager and will be part of a team environment in which all roles will support and assist each other when necessary.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right coffee lover to get involved in the coffee industry as Press House begins to grow locally and nationally. Ability to advance in the company and industry will be self-determined with full support of the Owner and Founder of Press House Coffee.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Learning and understanding the coffee industry from country of origin to sourcing and
    roasting
  • Staging the roast day by weighing out green coffee
  • Blending green and roasted coffee according to prescribed recipes
  • Learning and understanding our printing, labeling, packaging, and shipping practices
  • Receive and stock green coffees
  • Assist in inventory management and warehouse organization
  • Assist in maintaining a tidy work environment
  • Assist in local deliveries of coffee and equipment to our shops
  • Assist in taking packages to the post office for online order fulfillment
  • Assist in maintaining supply levels at our retail cafes
  • Attend cuppings and other educational trainings to grow coffee knowledge
  • Aid in the maintenance of production equipment

Qualifications/Experience

  • Genuine interest and curiosity of the coffee industry
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds overhead
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds individually and 160 pounds assisted
  • Willingness and desire to learn about the coffee roasting process
  • Ability to work independently to fulfill team needs
  • Ability to use computers for inventory and order tracking and fulfillment
  • Ability to follow technical guidelines
  • Ability to stand on feet for over half the work day
  • Well adjusted communication skills, both written and oral

Lead Barista

Press House Coffee is seeking a qualified Lead Barista to join our team. This Lead Barista will oversee and manage all aspects of coffee and barista staff in our upcoming locations in accordance with the vision and mission of Press House. The Lead Barista works directly with the Owner. Additionally, the Lead Barista will be closely involved in the development and evolution of our coffee offerings in collaboration with the Owner and Roast Master.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assume responsibility for all aspects of the coffee production.
  • Be capable of completing and overseeing all daily operations of the coffee bars at all locations, including SCA cuppings at our lab.
  • Oversee all barista employees in collaboration with Café Manger, including: hiring and terminations, performance and pay reviews, job descriptions and responsibilities, training and continuing education, discipline and commendation.
  • Management of baristas: customer service, preparation and presentation of beverages and information, operational procedures, merchandising.
  • Be “on-call” with the responsibility to respond to problems or fill-in when needed.
  • Cultivate a professional, friendly, efficient work environment.
  • Lead barista meetings.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Proactive training staff to maintain and uphold all company and café policies.
  • Actively work toward creating a superlative café experience through: customer service, beverage preparation and presentation, in-store marketing, and upkeep of the physical space.
  • Ensure all projects and responsibilities are completed in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Handle customer complaints with professionalism and tact.
  • Schedule: create the schedule, manage time off requests, ensure the coffee bar is properly staffed.

We are seeking a qualified Cafe Manager to join our team. The Press House Cafe Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations of the restaurant, including hiring, training and performance management of all hourly staff, inventory management, customer service, and creation of store goals and promotions to maximize profits. Work hand in hand with our Head of Coffee Ops to deliver the best coffee program possible. The Manager reports to the Owner and Head of Ops.

Customer service and supporting the cafés team are the most critical part of the is role.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales, Reporting, and Financial Responsibilities:

– Written and verbal store communication and top-down communication from corporate officers. Communicates with supervisors/leadership team to maintain the same practices and secure policy and procedure at all levels of the operation. Communicates store goals to team effectively and motivates others.

– Monitors inventory levels and communicates with vendors to maintain business relationships and secure appropriate pricing, in coordination with the operations manager.

– Responsible for ensuring that all financial duties and reporting are completed accurately, including all administrative tasks and payroll and personnel activities.

– Seeks to grow customer base and increase store traffic by creating and leading promotions within and outside the store as well as maintaining functional, efficient, and pleasant store environment and high-quality food and beverage offerings.

– Seeks to increase sales, monitors weekly and monthly P&L data and works to increase bottom-line profits.

– Reports performance information to owner.

– Helps to organize marketing efforts, including overseeing social media presence, completion of sampling and seasonal promotional goals and events, and interfacing with local groups, charities and school organizations to grow our involvement in the local community.

Leadership and Team Organization Responsibilities:

– Ensures all team members adhere with Press House standards of service. Always courteous, friendly and going the extra mile for our patrons.

– Leads and models overall culture, values, mission, and spirit of the company. Is knowledgeable about the ideals and principles of Press House and ensures that our story is appropriately conveyed by staff and store environment.

– Creates, adjusts, and implements training plans for new employees. Ensures full understanding and regularly observes and coaches staff on their performance, celebrating successes as well as discussing and offering suggestions if more feedback is needed.

– He/She performs annual employee reviews and conducts ongoing coaching and training sessions to ensure high levels of performance.

– Oversees store staffing levels and assists in hiring and promotion assessments. Organizes labor to ensure adequate staffing.

– Conducts regular management meetings to review financial reports, issues related to personnel, upcoming promotions, events, and activities, etc.

– Helps to create positive, enthusiastic, and well-trained store culture by providing an informed, honest, and optimistic example for the team. Responds appropriately to ideas,concerns, complaints, and comments from management and staff.

– Models proper attendance, punctuality, customer service, and overall attitude.

– Makes decisions on matters of import at the store level.

Quality of Products, Functionality, Safety, and Store Appearance Responsibilities:

– Oversees and executes effective communication between baristas and kitchen staff to ensure that food and beverage offerings are fresh, labeled appropriately, and kept well-stocked. Guides direction of new seasonal food and beverage offerings and contributes any skills and ideas for new items.

– Ensures that all company and store standards, guidelines, and procedures are communicated and followed by staff at all times. Models all rules and policies and maintains safety features and security of café, FOH, and BOH operations.

– Communicates safety features and hazards to team.

– Ensures store appearance is maintained at all times, including café seating area, bathrooms, condiment bar, and FOH/BOH.

– Ensures proper equipment functionality and performs or enforces completion of regular equipment maintenance. Utilizes resources and available information to troubleshoot when equipment errors occur; responds in a timely and reasonable fashion to problems.

– Maintains, models, and coaches on speed of service and organizes employees to maintain the most efficient floor plan and deployment for serving customers.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

– Strong customer service and communication skills

–Preferably at least 1 year of experience in coffee and/or restaurant management

– Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal

– Strong organization, time management, problem solving, decision making, and conflict resolution skills

– Must be able to multitask and be able to work under pressure

– Maintain a positive and upbeat atmosphere

– Ability to delegate, supervise, and train staff

– Will be able to work weekends, evenings, and/or overtime

– Must have a passion and appreciation for excellent coffee and food
